Not all politics is local, but our organization is

Dem-ass.jpg

Am I a hypocrite if I write an article about how we're not going to spend time talking about the national political scene, since, in writing the article, I am talking about the national political scene?  I suppose so. But it's OK because hypocrisy is definitely in fashion these days.

They used to say "All Politics is Local", and it used to be true.  But these days it seems like all politics is national.  90% of my news feed is sucked up by the firehose of dumb-ass, mean-ass, cruel-ass stuff that baby Hitler is doing or saying, and if I talk to someone for more than 5 minutes, the conversation inevitably veers off into the political weeds, like a moth to a flame or a rubber-necker to a car crash.  We can't help it.  It's what's going on.

But, The Tinton Falls Democratic Club remains focused on local politics.  Sure, when we get together, there's the obligatory few minutes of venting about the national insanity, but our focus and our efforts are all on local matters and races.  That means (in order from most local to least):

  • The Borough of Tinton Falls

  • Monmouth County

  • New Jersey State Legislative District 11  (our district)

  • New Jersey National Congressional District 4  (our district)

  • New Jersey State elections (Governor)

While Monmouth County remains heavily Republican, the Borough of Tinton Falls is fairly evenly split. In the past, I'd say we leaned ever-so-slightly left, but with momentum on the Republican side, that's in danger.  The biggest mission of this club is to try and keep Tinton Falls "blue-ish".  That means all of us showing up to vote at EVERY ELECTION and getting our friends to register and show up.  That means supporting our Democratic Candidates with your efforts and money.  And it means staying in the game.  Don't quit!  That's just what they are hoping we'll do.

Happy 75th Birthday Tinton Falls!

Wanna Volunteer for the Dems Booth?

TF75.jpg

2025 is the 75th Anniversary of the Borough of Tinton Falls, and the town is going ALL IN to celebrate.  Replacing the usual community day is a THREE DAY mega-fest:

The Tinton Falls 75th Diamond Jubilee

September 4, 5, and 6

And, the Tinton Falls Democratic Club

will be there!

But we need your help.

Like we do every year at Community Day, the TF Dems will be hosting a booth at the 75th Diamond Jubilee.  Specifically on

Saturday, Sep 6 from 12:00 to 7:00

We are looking for two sets of volunteers:

  • Folks to help plan for and create the booth (starting next week)

  • Folks to work at the booth on Sep 6 (in shifts, not the whole thing)

It's super fun and creative, and you get to meet lots of Tinton Falls neighbors.

If you want to be one of the heroes of our club and wish to volunteer, please email us at info@tfdems.org, and we'll get back to you ASAP.  We can't do this alone!

Thanks!

ALSO - There is a parade that's part of the celebration.  If by some chance, we were crazy enough to march in the parade, would you be willing to march in our group?  If so, let us know that too, at info@tfdems.org

Support Our Local Candidates - But Who Are They?

VOTE Logo.png

In case you missed it, the June Primary Election did actually happen, and while most of the local races were unopposed, the race for New Jersey Governor was particularly interesting.  And also in case you missed it, that Governor's primary was won by Mikie Sherrill.  I'm sorry, did I say she won?  I meant to say, SHE KILLED IT!  She crushed the competition by double digit margins across nearly the entire state.  It wasn't even close.  And now, we're gearing up for the big November 4th General Election.

And since just above, I went on for an hour about being local and supporting local candidates, now would be a good time to remind you of who those local candidates are.

NJ State Assembly - Legislative District 11

Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon

Luanne and Margie are our current Assembly Reps and they are fantastic!  They are part of the LD11 team that also includes our great Senator Vin Gopal. A couple of years ago, they brought district 11 back into Democratic hands, and now we've got to make sure it stays there.  Luanne is an attorney and former judge, and Margie is a medical doctor, so they are obviously intelligent, and they have been working tirelessly for our district and have had over 30 of their bills signed into law, and they are just warming up.  It's so important that these two keep their seat.  Do whatever you can to help.  We'll be hosting a meet and greet / fundraiser for them soon,. so stay tuned.

Our Monmouth County Candidates are amazing and brave, taking on a serious uphill battle as Democrats in Monmouth county, but if we keep pushing and chipping away, maybe this could be our year.  Republicans have been running every aspect of the county for many years now, and while the county is still a wonderful place to live, there are lots of questions about having this type pf power all in one place.  The current Republican elected officials are also the Republican party leaders in the county.  This makes for conflicts of interest and allows them to use their positions to further entrench their own positions.  It's time for a change here, and this is the team to do it.  Please support this great team.

New Jersey Governor

Mikie Sherrill

Mikie-Head.jpg

Mikie Sherrill has it all, and I am so excited about the possibility of of her becoming our next Governor.  Former military, former prosecutor, current Congressperson, and really good person, Mikie is just what New Jersey needs, and as you've heard, the stakes could not be higher, as we need a Democrat in the Governor's office to help fight back against the jackass in the white house.
